The AEX finished Friday at 1,116.71 points as Besi, ASMI and ASML posted strong gains, while the MidKap edged lower.

The AEX rose 0.4% to 1,106.92 points in early trading on Friday, 2 October, after falling 1.1% the previous day. Amsterdam’s MidKap index also edged higher, reaching 1,071.24 points. [1]
ANP reported an expectation of 90,000 additional US jobs in September. Investors’ attention was expected to turn to the figures when they were released later in the day. [1]
Amsterdam’s AEX closed 1.3% higher at 1,116.71 points on Friday, reversing a 1.1% fall on Thursday. Chip company Besi led the index with a 7% gain, followed by ASMI, up 5.5%. ASML rose 3.5%. [2]
The MidKap finished fractionally lower at 1,069.87 points, in contrast with the rise in Amsterdam’s main share index. [2]
