Rodri joins Barcelona after Manchester City exit, BBC Sport reports

Rodri left Manchester City for Barcelona in the summer of 2026, BBC Sport reports, joining the Spanish club despite interest from Real Madrid. He has played in all but one match of Barcelona’s perfect start to the campaign, according to the report. [1]

BBC Sport says Rodri told Spanish radio station COPE that Madrid had pursued him and handled its approach well. The BBC characterises his decision as a footballing one, pointing to the chance to develop and contribute in a young Barcelona squad that includes players he already knew. [1]
