Karl Deisseroth, Peter Hegemann and Georg Nagel have been awarded the 2026 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine for their work in optogenetics, BBC News reports. [1]
According to the BBC, the Nobel committee credited the three researchers with helping to reveal neural circuits associated with specific memories, feelings and behaviours relevant to neurological and psychiatric disorders. [1]
