Dutch Defence Minister Dilan Yeşilgöz announced the €10 million allocation on arriving in Brussels on Monday, ANP reported. The money is intended for training facilities in Ukraine so that more people can be trained. [1]
The announcement came ahead of a meeting of EU defence ministers. Military support for Ukraine was scheduled as the first topic of discussion, according to the EU Council’s agenda. [2]
Yeşilgöz also said the Netherlands had trained nearly 100,000 military personnel, including through European cooperation. [1]
Yeşilgöz said better training improved soldiers’ chances of surviving on the front line. The number and location of the facilities, and the timetable for the funding, remain unclear. [1]
