The Republic of Ireland took control early in Debrecen. Troy Parrott turned in James Abankwah’s cut-back in the 14th minute, Adam Idah scored from Jack Moylan’s pass two minutes later, and Moylan made it 3-0 in the 25th minute. Parrott’s goal was his 12th for Ireland; Moylan’s was his first in a competitive international. [1]
The result followed Ireland’s defeat in Kosovo three days earlier. Before kick-off, there were no handshakes, and Ireland’s players bowed their heads during Israel’s anthem, BBC Sport reported. [1]
Israel pressed early in the second half, but goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher saved from Dor Peretz and Eliel Peretz as Ireland kept a clean sheet. [1]
