Temperatures could reach 25C in parts of the UK on Tuesday, 29 September, as southerly winds bring warm air from France and Spain. BBC Weather lead presenter Simon King expects the highest temperatures in south-east England, with readings above 20C widespread across England. [1]
Highs of 17–22C are forecast for Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland. King expects Tuesday’s temperatures to be about 3–6C above the average for the time of year. The southerly winds will also bring gusts of up to 50mph in Northern Ireland and western Scotland. [1]
The warmth is expected to last into Wednesday morning. King forecasts overnight temperatures of around 15–19C in many places, while parts of south-east England might stay at or above 20C. Typical late-September overnight temperatures are around 7–11C. [1]
