Benjamin Daniel, known as Ben Dancer, reached the seven-day mark in his individual dance-marathon record bid at Lagos’s Freedom Park on Tuesday. His team said the 33-year-old hit 168 hours at about 03:00 local time and carried on for a further nine hours, finishing around midday. [1]
Guinness World Records told the BBC that Daniel’s application was active and that it was awaiting his evidence. It will review and verify that evidence before deciding whether to award the title. The current record is 127 hours, set by Indian dancer Srushti Sudhir Jagtap in 2023. [1]
The attempt allowed breaks: Daniel could take five minutes’ rest for every continuous hour of activity. He sometimes accumulated that time and rested after several hours of dancing. [1]
The BBC reported that Daniel went to hospital for a medical check-up after the attempt. Guinness has not yet confirmed whether he has broken the record. [1]
