PFA chief executive Maheta Molango says Cole Palmer’s England withdrawal should raise alarms about the football calendar, and is calling for a six-week summer interval for players.

Speaking at a Fifpro performance summit in London, Molango said Palmer was a “victim of the calendar” and called the wider system “sick”, BBC Sport reported on 29 September. Palmer had withdrawn from a recent England squad for “load management”. Molango’s comments linked that absence to the demands placed on players. [1]
