Chris Bajema has written a column for de Volkskrant about the writing of his wife, Paulien Cornelisse, who died in Amsterdam on Wednesday aged 50. Published on Thursday and titled *Pyjama*, it recalls how she wrote her columns in pyjamas on a bench in her study, a habit Bajema said began during the coronavirus pandemic. [1]
Bajema also reflected on *In het kort*, a collection of Cornelisse’s short pieces about daily life. He said he realised only after its publication that the collection was a diary of their family life. He now sees it as a gift. Cornelisse wrote a weekly column for NRC for years and later also wrote for de Volkskrant. She announced in 2024 that she was ill. [1]
Bajema named *Gekraak*, about a day the couple looked for somewhere to skate, as one of the columns dearest to him. He has hung it on the wall of his study. [1]
