Twenty-five Dutch trade associations representing retail, travel, culture, hospitality and services have launched a petition to preserve tax-free staff discounts. [1]
Under the current arrangement, employees can receive an untaxed discount on products their employer normally sells. The government’s proposed 2027 tax plan would remove that provision. The associations want the Dutch House of Representatives to reject the change and choose an alternative that spares workers and employers. [1]
The associations say hundreds of thousands of employees could be affected. They also expect the change to lead to more disputes with the Dutch Tax Administration. [1]
