England beat the Czech Republic 2–0 for their first Nations League win, with Anthony Gordon and Harry Kane scoring. In player ratings published on 29 September, BBC Sport England reporter Alex Howell gave Gordon a team-high 8 out of 10. Howell said Gordon’s runs behind the defence and opening goal showed why he was becoming increasingly important to England. [1]
Howell gave Kane 7 out of 10, describing a quieter game for the captain despite his second-half finish from inside the area. Trent Alexander-Arnold also received a 7 after delivering the ball for Gordon’s opener on his first England start in nearly two years. [1]
