A 4–2 win in Maribor leaves the Netherlands under-21 side one point behind Israel in the race for a European Championship play-off place.

The Netherlands under-21 side beat Slovenia 4–2 in Maribor, keeping alive their chance of reaching the play-offs for the 2027 European Championship. They have nine points from seven qualifiers, one behind second-placed Israel. Norway have secured first place in the group and qualified; the runners-up enter the play-offs. [1]
David Pejičić opened the scoring for Slovenia, but Ayoub Oufkir equalised from a rebound four minutes later. Lequincio Zeefuik then put the Dutch side ahead. Miha Matjašec made it 2–2 before goals from Ernest Poku and Kees Smit secured the win. [1]
The Netherlands play Bosnia and Herzegovina in Doetinchem on Tuesday in their final qualifier. Israel, who also have one match left, travel to Stavanger to face Norway. [1]
