James Rossiter, a test and development driver for Formula E’s Gen4 car, believes he could be substantially faster than a Formula 1 car in exceptionally heavy rain. His comparison puts him in a Gen4 car on Bridgestone’s ‘typhoon’ rain tyres and the F1 car on full-wet tyres. He made the comments to a media group that included RacingNews365, which reported them on 1 October. [1]
Rossiter credits the combination of the Gen4 car and Bridgestone tyre for his confidence. RacingNews365 says Gen4 cars can deliver around 600 kW of power, though Rossiter’s prediction is specifically about performance in extreme rain. [1]
Rossiter also expects Gen4 cars to run in conditions in which, in his view, the FIA would normally stop a session. That, too, is his prediction about the new car’s wet-weather capability. [1]
