The Dutch House Speaker wants ministers to face an extra question hour on Wednesday over overdue answers to MPs’ written questions.
Review information is loading.
Thom van Campen, Speaker of the Dutch House of Representatives, wants ministers to attend an extra question hour on Wednesday morning over written parliamentary questions left unanswered. MPs can submit questions that are still unanswered at 10am on Tuesday for the planned session. [1]
Van Campen told MPs in an email that 66 sets of questions were awaiting answers a little over a week before Monday’s report. That was a count of sets at the time, not a current tally of individual questions. The extra session is intended to press ministers to miss answer deadlines only in exceptional circumstances they can explain. [1]
Ministers have up to six weeks to answer written questions, according to ANP. [1]
The House normally holds a question hour on Tuesday afternoon. A previous Speaker, Martin Bosma, also summoned ministers over missed answer deadlines in spring 2025. [1]
