Rico Verhoeven will not fight Deontay Wilder on the undercard of Tyson Fury’s bout with Anthony Joshua in Cardiff on 11 December, after negotiations failed to produce an agreement, his manager has confirmed.
Manager Karim Erja said there had been serious talks and interest from both sides, but the process took too long. Verhoeven now plans to pursue other opponents for next year, Erja said.
The proposed bout would have been Verhoeven’s first boxing match since his defeat by Oleksandr Usyk in May. The Fury-Joshua fight is scheduled to be shown on Netflix.
