The Dutch presenter says she was uneasy about succeeding Özcan Akyol, but accepted the programme as a chance to conduct longer interviews.

Carrie ten Napel said she hesitated for a long time before agreeing to present *Sterren op het Doek*, and told its former presenter, Özcan Akyol, about her doubts in a message. She felt the way his departure had been handled was “not right”, she told De Telegraaf, according to Nieuws.nl. [1]
Ten Napel also said she had tried to call Akyol but that he had no room for a conversation. Nieuws.nl reports that Akyol stopped presenting the programme after a conflict with Omroep MAX director Jan Slagter. [1]
The offer came soon after an announcement that Ten Napel’s talk show, *Carrie op Vrijdag*, would end because of budget cuts, she said. She eventually accepted the new role because she welcomed the challenge of conducting longer interviews. Plans for her talk show later changed: Nieuws.nl reported on 10 October that it would return the following week. The new series of *Sterren op het Doek* was expected to air in spring 2027. [1]
