At the European Football Clubs (EFC) general assembly in Copenhagen on Tuesday, chairman Nasser Al-Khelaïfi proposed a worldwide organisation for football clubs. Al-Khelaïfi, who also chairs Paris Saint-Germain, said the proposed “World Football Club” would give clubs an international voice alongside continental football bodies such as UEFA. He argued that every club deserved representation and a better chance to succeed. [1]
Al-Khelaïfi gave no details about membership, governance or when the body might be set up. Its intended role in relation to FIFA also remains unclear. [1]
