Nikkei Asia reports a cut to October component orders for Apple’s newest Pro iPhones, but the figure does not measure phone production or sales.

Apple has told some suppliers to scale back production of components for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, Nikkei Asia reported, citing unnamed insiders. The account, carried by ANP/Reuters, comes just weeks after the latest iPhone models went on sale. [1]
According to Nikkei, October component orders were reduced by at least 15% compared with the quantities originally ordered. It also reported that Apple had become more cautious about deliveries from early September. The 15% figure concerns component orders, not finished phones or sales. [1]
Nikkei Asia reported, citing insiders, that sharply higher memory-chip costs and price increases were weighing on consumer demand. The account gives no measured change in demand, and it remains unclear whether the reported order reduction will affect the number of phones Apple produces. [1]
