A cyberattack has affected refrigerators and freezers at IKEA’s store in Mons, Belgium, but the impact on its restaurant and chilled Swedish food has been limited so far, Nieuws.nl reports, citing ANP and Belga.
The company is checking the affected refrigeration systems. Other IKEA stores in Belgium have not been affected, according to the report. An IKEA Netherlands spokesperson could not immediately say whether stores in the Netherlands were also hit.
The incident comes amid reports of hacked refrigerators and freezers at supermarkets in several European countries. Rising temperatures have led to food being thrown away at some locations. In the Netherlands, refrigeration systems at butchers and smaller neighbourhood shops were also hacked, a Danfoss spokesperson told NOS.
