Max Verstappen has described repeated failures with Red Bull’s team radio as “a disaster and very frustrating” after struggling to hear messages from the pit wall during Sunday’s United States Grand Prix in Austin.
The Dutch driver said at the post-race FIA press conference that the problem had happened many times this season, though he could not say how often. Joking about the disruption, he added: “Maybe we should communicate in sign language, that would probably be cheaper too.”
Verstappen finished third in Austin and is fourth in the drivers’ championship. He can no longer win this year’s title, with his points deficit to leader Kimi Antonelli now insurmountable.
