The European Commission will present a revision of the EU accession process for countries already well advanced towards membership next week, its president Ursula von der Leyen said at a press conference in Albania. The planned revision is intended to give candidates such as Albania a clearer roadmap, setting out the remaining steps, deadlines and progress needed on the path to membership. [1]
Von der Leyen said candidates would still have to demonstrate that they had carried out the necessary reforms, but argued that the process need not be slow, particularly given the current geopolitical situation. [1]
