A campaign to help repair Limoges town hall has raised more than €1 million, but the total rebuilding cost is not yet known.
Review information is loading.
A fundraising campaign for Limoges town hall has raised more than €1 million from over 9,800 donors, as the French city seeks help repairing the building, which was badly damaged by fire on 17 October.
Fondation du patrimoine, a non-profit organisation supporting French heritage, is aiming to raise €2 million. The total cost of rebuilding the town hall has not yet been established.
Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu said during a visit to Limoges last month that the state would cover the costs, alongside contributions from public and private donors. He also said the building would be given historic-monument status, making it eligible for grants.
Built between 1879 and 1883, the town hall was damaged during a day of widespread rioting, looting and vandalism in France.
