Thuiswinkel.org urges online retailers to check for PHP vulnerabilities, install available security updates and temporarily take affected systems offline if they cannot be protected.

Dutch online retailers are being urged to contact their technical provider after warnings about vulnerabilities in PHP, the programming language used to build websites. The advice from trade association Thuiswinkel.org is to check whether shops’ systems use PHP, whether they are affected and what action is needed. [1]
For retailers who manage their own servers, the association says to install the relevant PHP security update as soon as it is available. It also advises members to replace every affected version, rather than checking only WordPress, WooCommerce or another specific platform.
If a potentially vulnerable system cannot be updated or adequately protected straight away, Thuiswinkel.org advises taking the affected environment temporarily offline. The organisation said it had taken some of its own websites offline as a precaution.
