The Netherlands plans open online and in-person discussions to inform recommendations on tackling online discrimination, expected in November 2027.
The Dutch government expects a report recommending ways to tackle online discrimination in November 2027, according to the ANP news agency. The advice will draw on online meetings and in-person discussions for which anyone can register. [1]
The online meetings had been announced earlier. State Secretary Willemijn Aerdts, whose responsibilities include the digital economy, has now announced that face-to-face discussions will also take place, ANP reported. The talks and the planned advice are part of a wider government effort to address online discrimination and hate. [1]
ANP cited Statistics Netherlands as saying that more than 580,000 people were victims of online discrimination or hate in 2024. Aerdts said the discussions should cover how people behave online, where the boundaries lie and what someone can do when they encounter discrimination. [1]
