Racoon released Dicht Bij Het Vuur on Friday, 25 September 2026, with frontman Bart van der Weide singing about missing family members who have died, according to Nieuws.nl. The release coincides with the opening of ticket sales for the band’s anniversary concert next year. [1]
Speaking in an ANP interview reported by Nieuws.nl, Van der Weide said he feels those absences most strongly during the holidays. Family gatherings have become increasingly important to him: a chance both to mourn those who are missing and to enjoy the company of those who remain.
Van der Weide wrote the single’s lyrics. He said the band makes the music collectively, alongside guitarist Dennis Huige, bassist Maarten van Damme and drummer Paul Bukkens. [1]
Racoon is approaching its 30th anniversary, Van der Weide said. Its anniversary concert is scheduled for 2 October 2027 at Ziggo Dome, with ticket sales starting on the day of the single’s release, the report says.
The band did not confirm any additional anniversary shows. Van der Weide said the plan was for one concert for now, while Huige left the possibility of more open. [1]
Van der Weide also indicated that the single could lead to a new Dutch-language album, expressing confidence in the band’s direction. No album release date was given in the interview. [1]
