Belgian Queen Mathilde will visit Botswana from 22 to 25 February in her role as honorary president of UNICEF Belgium, the Belgian royal palace says. The trip will focus on programmes supporting young children and their families. [1]
Mathilde is due to visit Maun, Ghanzi and Gaborone, where she will learn about work on early childhood development, nutrition, child protection and mental health. The palace said the visit would give her a better understanding of the challenges facing children and families, and of solutions developed with support from UNICEF and its partners. [1]
She previously travelled to Costa Rica in February 2025 and visited Vietnam in 2023 in her UNICEF role. [1]
