Stronger orders helped lift Dutch industrial production in September, while firms drew on finished-goods stocks to meet demand.

Dutch manufacturers increased production in September at the fastest pace in nearly four years, the purchasing managers’ association Nevi said in findings reported by news agency ANP. Nevi attributed the increase chiefly to stronger demand and a sharp rise in orders. Firms also drew on stocks of finished goods to meet that demand. [1]
Nevi’s indicator is based on a monthly survey of hundreds of purchasing managers. [1]
ABN AMRO economist Albert Jan Swart said Dutch industry was probably benefiting particularly from demand for chipmaking machines and their electrical components. He also saw demand recovering for other types of machinery after several weak years. [1]
