A man in his 30s has died after a car crashed through the entrance of a Lidl supermarket in Finchfield, Wolverhampton. Several other people were treated for injuries, West Midlands Police said.
Police were called shortly before 18:00 BST on Friday. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, and police said his death was not being treated as suspicious.
West Midlands Fire Service sent four crews to the scene at 17:51. Two crews were still there at 20:05. Police cordoned off Finchfield Road West and Finchfield Hill and warned that the roads would remain closed for some time.
The car came to rest just inside the shop entrance, which was damaged in the crash. Witness Tina Bonev described the incident as “absolutely terrifying” and said there had been “shock and confusion” afterwards.
Police said officers remained at the scene to assist fire and ambulance crews with their enquiries and offered their thoughts to the man’s family.
