Four people have been arrested after a police officer was shot in Nottingham city centre, with the officer still in hospital in a stable condition, Nottinghamshire Police said. [1]
The officer had approached two suspects in Angel Row shortly before 04:50 BST on Sunday, the force said. Three people — two women aged 25 and 27 and a 24-year-old man — were arrested after officers stopped a vehicle in Nottingham’s Radford area on Sunday evening. A 30-year-old man was arrested in Bedfordshire in the early hours of Monday.
The 27-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and possessing a firearm with intent to endanger life. The other three were arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Assistant Chief Constable Claire Rukas said detectives were working to establish what happened before, during and after the shooting. She said the arrests might provide some reassurance as those detained were questioned in connection with the discharge of the firearm.
