Stray Kids’ label says the group did not submit for the 2027 Grammys. BTS has also opted out, as the Recording Academy prepares a new Asian pop award.

Stray Kids did not submit for the 2027 Grammy Awards, the group’s label JYP told BBC News. JYP gave no reason for the decision. BTS said in July that it would not submit songs in any category, saying it wanted its music heard without being divided by region or language. [1]
The decisions come as the Recording Academy prepares to introduce an Asian pop award. The Academy says the category will recognise performances originating in, or widely recognised within, Asian markets. Some critics fear a separate award could limit Asian artists’ recognition in the main categories; others object to a requirement for nominated songs to make meaningful use of an Asian language. [1]
Recording Academy chief Harvey Mason Jr acknowledged opposition but said the strongest feedback the Academy had received favoured keeping the category. He confirmed it would go ahead at the 2027 ceremony. [1]
Both BTS and Stray Kids would have been eligible to compete in the Grammys’ main categories had they submitted music, BBC News reports. [1]
