Manchester City head into the Women’s Super League’s two-week break with five wins from five matches and 16 goals scored. The defending champions’ comeback victory over Arsenal gave them their best start to a season since 2017–18, according to BBC Sport. Khadija Shaw has scored five league goals, while Lauren Hemp has four goals and two assists. [1]
London City Lionesses also made an impression in their fifth match, winning 6–1 away to Tottenham as Alexia Putellas scored twice. Manager Eder Maestre said the result could be a game-changer, though talk of a title challenge remains an early assessment rather than a settled picture. [1]
Chelsea are City’s closest rivals after following an opening-day draw with Aston Villa with four wins without conceding. Arsenal, meanwhile, are ten points behind City; manager Renee Slegers said they were not in the title conversation at this stage. [1]
The expanded 14-team league has brought mixed starts for its three promoted clubs. Crystal Palace are eighth with six points from five games, Birmingham have two points and Charlton have none. [1]

Manchester City’s match against Arsenal drew more than the 4,300 at their equivalent fixture last season, BBC Sport reported, although an official figure for the newer match had not yet been released.
