The Weeknd tour grosses $1.3bn, setting record for male solo artist

The Weeknd’s After Hours til Dawn Tour has grossed $1.3 billion, making it the highest-grossing tour by a male solo artist, according to promoter Live Nation. The singer played his final show in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday, Nieuws.nl reported.

The tour began in July 2022 and ran for 176 shows across 67 cities, 30 countries and five continents. More than nine million tickets were sold. Live Nation said the 36-year-old artist sold more than three million tickets in 2026 alone, generating over $500 million.

Only two tours have earned more: Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour, which grossed more than $2 billion, and Coldplay’s Music of the Spheres tour, with more than $1.5 billion. The previous record for a male solo artist was held by Elton John’s Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour, which took in more than $939 million between 2018 and 2023.

The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, played three sold-out shows at Amsterdam’s Johan Cruijff Arena in July. Nieuws.nl reported that he donated $8.5 million to charities focused on food security and children’s education.
