Hospitals and rescuers put Tuesday’s death toll across Gaza at seven. An Israeli statement about one alleged Hamas target refers to a strike the previous day.

Seven Palestinians were reported killed in Israeli strikes and gunfire across Gaza on Tuesday 20 October, according to the territory’s civil defence service and hospitals. The deaths were reported more than a year after a ceasefire took effect, during a period of near-daily Israeli attacks. [1] [4]
Quds Net, citing hospital figures up to 5.15pm, put four of the reported deaths in northern Gaza, two in the centre and one in the south. The reports included two people killed in the central areas of Al-Zawaida and Wadi Gaza, and a teenager killed by gunfire near Khan Younis in the south. [3] [4]
In Gaza City, medics told Reuters that an Israeli air strike on an apartment killed Akram Yassin and his wife, Dina Abu Baker. The Israeli military and domestic security service said they had killed Akram Bassam Shaaban Yassin in Gaza City on Tuesday, describing him as a senior Hamas security official. His alleged role is an Israeli claim; his wife was also among those reported killed in the strike. [5] [2]
Israel also said it had killed Tamer Mohammad Ibrahim Al-Zabaq, whom it described as a Hamas fighter, in Jabalia. But its statement dates that strike to Monday 19 October, not Tuesday. It therefore does not establish that two of the seven people reported dead on Tuesday were Hamas members. Quds Net named a different man, Mahmoud Khalil al-Matouq, in its account of a death in Jabalia on Tuesday. Israel was still checking other casualty reports, according to an ANP/AFP dispatch published by Nieuws.nl. [2] [3] [1]
Israel says Hamas has been rearming and carrying out attacks in breach of the ceasefire; Hamas denies trying to do so and accuses Israel of undermining the agreement. Gaza health officials say at least 1,500 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire since the ceasefire began in October 2025. Israel says militants in Gaza have killed four of its soldiers over the same period.
