Netflix says De Eetclub is on course to become its most-watched Dutch series

Netflix says the Dutch thriller *De Eetclub* has attracted 17 million views, putting it on course to become the most-watched Dutch series ever on the streaming service. The figure is provisional and covers viewing up to 18 October, according to Netflix’s quarterly results, as reported by Nieuws.nl [1].

Netflix calculates views by dividing total viewing time by the programme’s running time, so 17 million views does not necessarily mean 17 million individual viewers. The series is listed among the platform’s international successes and is released internationally as *The Perfect Lie* [1].

Based on Saskia Noort’s bestselling novel of the same name, the thriller follows a wealthy group of friends whose apparently perfect lives are disrupted when one of them dies in a house fire. Its cast includes Loes Haverkort, Rifka Lodeizen, Noortje Herlaar and Remko Vrijdag [1].

Netflix also reported that non-English-language productions have grown from less than 10 per cent of total viewing on the service a decade ago to more than a third [1].
