Dolle Mina's has urged greater attention to attitudes towards violence against women following the publication of a university study on women's emancipation. In comments reported by ANP and published by Nieuws.nl on 29 September, the Dutch feminist movement welcomed support for equality but said other findings were troubling. [1]
ANP reported that the study found Dutch people generally positive about women's emancipation, while the number expressing understanding for hitting women had risen slightly. It also reported that 84% said it was never justified for a man to hit his wife. Dolle Mina's interpreted that figure as suggesting nearly one in six people might leave some room for such violence. [1]
The movement rejected the idea that women’s emancipation can be treated as a won battle. Its position is that violence against women is never justified. [1]
