KLM flight KL757, bound for Panama City, landed in San José, Costa Rica, after a stop in Curaçao, Dutch news agency ANP reported. A magnitude 7.7 earthquake had struck Panama earlier on Friday, prompting a precautionary suspension of flights to and from Panama City’s Tocumen airport, according to the agency. [1]
A KLM spokesperson told ANP that the aircraft could not remain in Curaçao because there was not enough hotel accommodation for all its passengers. San José was already the final destination for many people on board, the spokesperson said; they had expected to change planes in Panama City.
Passengers whose destination was Panama City were given overnight accommodation in San José and were to be rebooked onto flights there as soon as possible, ANP reported. [1]
