The KNVB says it continues to want Gianni Infantino to leave as FIFA president and supports finding a European challenger ahead of the election in March.
Review information is loading.
The Dutch Football Association (KNVB) is still calling for FIFA president Gianni Infantino to leave and backs efforts to find a European challenger for him, the association has confirmed to the ANP news agency. The next FIFA presidential election is scheduled for 27 March in Morocco. [1]
The KNVB’s position follows that of several other European football associations, which attended a meeting of the FIFA Council in Zurich on Thursday. The KNVB is not one of the council’s 36 members and was not at the meeting.
It was the first council meeting between Infantino and his critics since he presented a controversial investment plan for the World Cup earlier this summer. He later withdrew the plan after facing pressure, according to the report. UEFA members have until 18 November to put forward a candidate to challenge Infantino. [1]
