US President Donald Trump told Axios on Sunday that he expected further talks with Iran in the coming week, despite saying on Saturday that he had rejected Tehran’s proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz and end the fighting. [1] [3]
Two regional sources cited by Axios said another round of indirect US–Iran dialogue could take place as early as Monday, 28 September. The timing remains tentative. [1]
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said on Sunday that mediators had not formally conveyed a US rejection to Tehran. He said Iran would decide how to respond once it received Washington’s definitive position through them. Araghchi said the proposed deal would start a seven-day countdown to reopening the strait and pause regional fighting. Iran’s terms also include the release of frozen assets, the lifting of sanctions on Iranian oil and an end to the US naval blockade. [3] [4]

IRNA cited a source as saying Iran’s delegation at the United Nations in New York had no plans to negotiate with the United States, according to an ANP/AFP dispatch carried by Nieuws.nl.
