Chantal Janzen returned to the musical stage on Saturday evening after a ten-year break, starring in the premiere of *Cabaret* in Amsterdam. Afterwards, she said she found it difficult to judge how the show had gone because she and the cast were working on stage rather than watching from the audience.[1]
“We just kept saying all evening: ‘We’ll get on with the work.’ That’s what you have to do,” Janzen told *Shownieuws*. Presenter Eline de Ruig said Janzen received a spontaneous round of applause during the performance. Janzen said she had not noticed it: the applause came during a scene in which she was struggling with her fear of heights, and she was focused on that.[1]
Janzen said she was glad her family could be together for the premiere. Her eldest son, James, came from London; she said she had not seen him for five weeks and had missed him.[1]
*Cabaret*, which also stars Freek Bartels and is directed by Daria Bukvić, is scheduled to run for a few months at Amsterdam’s Theater DeLaMar.[1]
