The actor reportedly tore a tendon during a fight scene and developed an infection, leading to an operation at a hospital in Bulgaria.
Glen Powell underwent surgery in Bulgaria after injuring his hand while filming The Running Man, according to Nieuws.nl’s account of an interview the actor gave to Esquire. He tore a tendon and developed an infection, the report says. [1]
The injury occurred during the last scheduled fight scene. Powell was struck with a retractable knife, but the blow was hard enough to tear the tendon. He said he did not realise he had been hurt at first and went to hospital when his hand began to swell. [1]
Powell said a surgeon warned him that he might wake up without his hand, but he kept it after the operation. He told Esquire that, despite advice to rest and keep the wound warm, he climbed an apartment building the next day. [1]
