Dutch industrial production recorded its fastest annual rise in more than four years in August, with machinery leading growth among major branches.

Dutch industrial production was 12% higher in August 2026 than a year earlier, the largest increase in more than four years, according to figures from Statistics Netherlands (CBS) reported by the ANP news agency. [1]
The August growth rate was above the 9.3% increase reported for July. Those rates do not, on their own, show how much production changed between the two months. [1]
Among the eight largest industrial branches, machinery recorded the strongest production growth, while chemicals had the largest decline, ANP reported, citing CBS. [1]
ANP also reported that a recent survey by Dutch purchasing managers’ association Nevi pointed to strong demand for machinery. Discussing that survey, ABN AMRO economist Albert Jan Swart said the Netherlands was benefiting particularly from growing demand for chipmaking machines and related electrical components. He also pointed to recovering demand for other machinery, including equipment for food manufacturing and agriculture. [1]
