Albania’s Suela Janina was elected chair of the UN General Assembly’s Second Committee on 2 June, according to a UN biographical note published on 1 October. The committee deals with economic and financial matters. [1]
Janina worked in Albania’s foreign ministry from 2012 to 2014, first in its treaties and international law department and later as general director for multilateral relations. [1]
She went on to serve as Albania’s ambassador to the European Union from 2014 to 2024, before becoming the country’s permanent representative to the UN. [1]
