The FIA’s technical delegate has recorded a seventh internal combustion engine for Isack Hadjar and a fifth each for Arvid Lindblad and Franco Colapinto at the 2026 Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia. The season allowance is four per driver, so all three have exceeded it. [2]
Lindblad has also taken a fifth turbocharger and a fifth exhaust set, exceeding the four-unit allowance in each category. The FIA’s earlier component record listed four of each for him. [2] [3]
RacingNews365 reports grid penalties for all three drivers and says Lindblad will start from the back. Formule.cz also reports a back-of-grid start for Lindblad. On Colapinto, RacingNews365 reports a new engine-related penalty in addition to an earlier sanction, while Formule.cz mentions a five-place penalty carried over from Azerbaijan. [1] [4]
The FIA documents record component use, not the size of any grid penalties. RacingNews365 describes the engine allowance as five per driver; the FIA records it as four. The drivers’ final starting positions remain to be settled. [1] [2]
Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar has taken his seventh internal combustion engine of the 2026 season, exceeding the permitted allocation of four ahead of the 2–4 October Formula 1 event in Malaysia. An FIA technical delegate’s report also lists a fifth engine for Racing Bulls driver Arvid Lindblad and Alpine’s Franco Colapinto, putting both over the same limit. The report was sent to the stewards. [2]
Lindblad has also taken a fifth turbocharger and fifth exhaust set, each beyond the permitted allocation. RacingNews365 reports the same component changes and calculates grid-place penalties of five for Hadjar as things stand, ten for Colapinto’s engine change and 30 for Lindblad.
