Arizona snatched an 18-16 win over the Rams with a field goal as time expired, while the Eagles lost for the fourth consecutive game without injured quarterback Jalen Hurts. Kansas City stayed unbeaten and Houston won a Wembley thriller.
The Arizona Cardinals beat the Los Angeles Rams 18-16 with a last-second field goal, while the Philadelphia Eagles lost their fourth game in a row as NFL week six brought a setback for two recent Super Bowl contenders. [1]
Chad Ryland kicked a career-high six field goals for Arizona, including the winner as time expired. The Rams had briefly gone ahead when punter Ethan Evans took over kicking duties after new signing Blake Grupe injured his knee on the opening kick-off. Colby Parkinson’s touchdown and Evans’s extra point put Los Angeles in front with 47 seconds left, but the Cardinals answered immediately.
The win lifted Arizona above the Rams in the NFC West. Los Angeles head coach Sean McVay said: “We’ve got to be able to figure it out and it starts with me.”
The Eagles, playing without injured quarterback Jalen Hurts, lost 25-14 at home to the Carolina Panthers. Hurts was placed on injured reserve after a follow-up ultrasound showed that a blood clot in his calf had moved; he will miss at least four weeks. Backup Tanner McKee made his third NFL start as Philadelphia’s losing streak reached four games, its longest since Nick Sirianni became head coach in 2021.
Elsewhere, Kansas City beat the Los Angeles Chargers 22-6 to remain unbeaten. Running back Kenneth Walker rushed for 128 yards and two touchdowns, while quarterback Patrick Mahomes recorded his 100th regular-season win in his 131st start, tying Tom Brady’s record.
Houston edged Jacksonville 34-31 at Wembley, with Ka’imi Fairbairn’s field goal settling the highest-scoring London game since 2015. Jacksonville’s Travis Hunter caught a touchdown and made an interception in the same game, a feat the BBC said had not been achieved since 2002.
Cleveland moved to 4-2 with a 13-10 win over Baltimore and leads the AFC North on a tiebreaker. The Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers also have 4-2 records.
