Pope Leo led the Angelus prayer from a Vatican window on Sunday, his first public appearance since surgery removed part of his right lung.

Pope Leo returned to public duties on Sunday, leading the traditional Angelus prayer from a Vatican window for the first time since surgery to remove part of his right lung. He thanked people who had prayed for him and said he would gradually resume his work, according to an Associated Press, Agence France-Presse and Reuters report published by Nieuws.nl. [1]
The Vatican had said the growth removed during Tuesday’s operation was malignant. Leo had announced the previous Sunday that a lung nodule had been found and would be treated. [1]
His recovery had been expected to take a week, but his appearance for the Angelus was announced on Friday. A multi-day visit to South America is scheduled for early November. [1]
