Alberto Núñez Feijóo has urged Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez to call an election after parliament rejected his plans to tackle Spain’s housing shortage.

Sánchez’s housing plans were voted down in parliament on Friday, 2 October. His Socialist Party (PSOE) leads a minority government, and regional parties that often support it generally did not back the proposals this time. [1]
Feijóo, leader of the opposition People’s Party (PP), called for an election on Saturday. He accused Sánchez of trying to cover up eight years of mismanagement with emergency measures and said the prime minister should stop delaying a vote. [1]
Tens of thousands of people in Spain have protested over the housing shortage and called for a general strike, ANP reported. [1]
