A hair salon on Westhavenkade in Vlaardingen will remain closed for a further four weeks, the municipality has ordered, citing concerns about public order and safety. The decision extends a closure imposed after an explosion outside the premises earlier this month.
The salon was shut for two weeks on 12 October, following the blast on the Sunday evening before. It had also been shot at several times last year, according to an ANP report published by Nieuws.nl.
The latest order was made by deputy mayor Rens de Ron. The report says there have been other attacks on hair salons in the town recently. A salon on Liesveld, not far from Westhavenkade, was hit by explosions in May and August and daubed with white paint twice late last year. The mayor ordered that business closed for several weeks in August.
A 27-year-old man from Vlaardingen was arrested last Friday on suspicion of involvement in the 6 August explosion at the Liesveld salon. He remains in custody, the report says.
