Wimbledon’s interim chief executive joked about military personnel dealing with an influencer while explaining how the tournament handles content creators.

Richard Atkinson, interim chief executive of the All England Lawn Tennis Club, made the remark during a panel at Leaders Week London. “We do have military. And they would like nothing more, I suspect, than to sort out some influencer,” he joked, according to BBC Sport. He was not announcing a security measure. [1]
According to BBC Sport, Richard Atkinson said Wimbledon has no accreditation category called “influencers”, but rejected the idea that they should be kept out altogether. He described them as an important part of marketing and said influencers brought by partners such as Polo Ralph Lauren were closely accompanied. The distinction is between offering influencers their own accreditation category and allowing them to attend. [1]
BBC Sport also reported that fans will not be allowed to bring portable ring lights to Wimbledon. It did not specify when that restriction would take effect. [1]
