A keeper at the Beekse Bergen safari park in the Netherlands remains in a “critical” condition after being badly injured in a leopard attack on Saturday, the park said on Monday. Doctors fear she may not survive, a park spokesperson said on Sunday with the woman’s family’s permission.
The woman, who has worked at the park for 25 years, was attacked while working in an enclosure with two male Persian leopards. She underwent surgery on the day of the attack; the park said the operation went as planned. She remains unconscious.
It is not clear exactly what happened. There are no cameras in the enclosure, and the Dutch Labour Inspectorate is investigating the incident.
