Airbnb has raised its revenue outlook for the third time this year after strong demand for accommodation in the third quarter, with chief executive Brian Chesky saying people born between 1997 and 2012 accounted for nearly half of the platform’s new bookers.
Revenue rose 19% year on year to $4.9bn in the quarter, according to an Associated Press report carried by Nieuws.nl. The company now expects full-year revenue growth to be well above 15%; in August it had forecast growth of “at least around 15%”. It also raised its forecast for its profit margin slightly.
Chesky described the outlook as “a huge comeback” for Airbnb. The company’s revenue growth had lost momentum in the years after the pandemic as US consumers changed their travel habits, the report said. Chesky had said in August that he was dissatisfied with the pace of growth.
